• Adobe Premiere Pro Quicktime Codec

MPEG-2, MPEG2-DVD, MPEG-2-Blu-ray, and MXF OP1a are missing from the format pop-up menu in Adobe Media Encoder CS6. Dolby Digital is also missing as an audio codec if you choose one of the H.264 presets.

Note:

As of September 15, 2017, Adobe Creative Cloud applications now rely on your operating system (OS) to decode/encode Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus audio formats. Adobe no longer bundles the native libraries from Dolby with Creative Cloud products.

Install the latest update to the Adobe Media Encoder, 6.01 or later.

To download the update, choose Help > Updates from within any of the CS6 products and follow the onscreen instructions.

1. I have tried this on the two computers I am using and both don'r recognize the codec. This has to be something I'm not enabling in Premiere Pro and Media encoder? Seems straight forward but when I pull up the Quicktime option for exporting I get limited options.
2. The MediaReactor Lite codec provides extended export and Camera Raw import capabilities to Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Adobe Media Encoder. If your MOV files are not accepted by Adobe Premiere Elements, it's probably because of the video or audio codec incompatibility. On this occasion, you need to transcode MOV to Premiere Elements prferred MPEG-2 or WMV files and then transfer the converted MOV files to Premiere Elements for editing.

Adobe continuously aims to keep up with the most modern workflows, support formats, and codecs broadly used across the professional film and video industry. As a result, Adobe will no longer support legacy QuickTime 7 era formats and codecs starting from the following product versions:

• April 2018 release of Premiere Pro CC (version 12.1)
• April 2018 release of After Effects CC (version 15.1)
• April 2018 release of Adobe Media Encoder (version 12.1)
• April 2018 release of Adobe Audition (version 11.1.0)

Older codecs such as Cinepak, Graphics or Sorenson Video are affected by this change. Media using such legacy codecs should be converted to a modern codec, so that use with these products can be continued.

It is far more useful than just a maximizer alone, as it is also a limiter, noise gate, expander, ducker and de-esser. Professional codecs typically found in QuickTime movie files, such as ProRes, DNxHD, and Animation, are not affected by this change.

Note:

If you run into issues because of this change, use any of the following workarounds:

• For export formats, use the currently available newer codecs.
• For import formats, transcode legacy footage to a newer codec.

Note:

Older versions of the software will continue to support 32-bit QuickTime media on currently released operating systems.
